Raport arheologic: Săvârșin/comuna: Săvârșin/județul: Arad/punct: Dealul Cetățuia (2006)

The site includes several zones of archaeological, on the promontory with anthropogenic terraces and on the surrounding area. The archaeological explorations undertaken, with interruption, in 1979 - 2001, have brought to light vestiges of the Coțofeni culture and mostly from the Dacian period. The 2006 campaign fixed some goals: a) to delimit the zones of archaeological interest from the Plateau, unaffected during the installation of two mobile phone aerials before 2000, b) excavations on Terrace I to obtain stratigraphic information correlated to the topographical measurements of older trenches and c) excavations on a northern terrace to verify an eventual habitation. Besides completing these explorations, in the next campaign the southern side of the site will be investigated, where vestiges dating from the 4th - 3rd centuries B.C. have already been identifiedl, a period only slightly known in this area.
