Zusammenfassung: | Absorption Minister Rabbi Itzhak Peretz is under pressure from many quarters to resign over an attack on non-religious kibbutzim, The minister was in discussion with Muki Tzur, secretary of the United Kibbutz Movement, an the main evening news program Mabat. Peretz was complaining on the live telecast that new Ethiopian immigrants were being sent to the non-religious kibbutzim and their traditions were not being respected and they were being encouraged not to observe the Sabbath and kashrut. This evening an estimated 10,000 kibbutz members assembled in Kibbutz Shefayim to hear many political leaders, including Labour Party leader Shimon Peres, support the work of the Kibbutz movement in the field of absorption. Several left wing Knesset Members would not attend the meeting as they felt it was being used to inflame anti-religious feeling. Peretz for his part has said that he would like to make peace with the kibbutz movement. Muki Tzur said he would be happy to have a new dialogue with Rabbi Peretz, but only after he has resigned. Photo shows Shimon Peres addressing the rally called by the non-religious kibbutz movement at Kibbutz Shefayim.
