Zusammenfassung:This report details the final results of an archaeological excavation at Site 7 in Kilmacredock Upper townland on the M4 Celbridge Interchange Scheme, Co. Kildare (NGR 297742.140 E 235338.650 N). The scheme was approximately 4km in length and a total of eighteen sites were found during archaeological monitoring of topsoil stripping. The route of the scheme ran through gently undulating land with a mixture of arable, pasture and woodland. The medieval boroughs of Celbridge and Leixlip are also located in the vicinity of the scheme. Site 7 was located at the southern end of the scheme close to the M4. The southern part of the scheme runs through a landscape heavily influenced by eighteenth century landscape design with avenues, woodland and tree lined field boundaries centred on the early eighteenth century house at Castletown. The site was uncovered during archaeological monitoring of topsoil stripping and on excavation, proved to be the remains of two corn drying kilns and a ditch. The kilns have now been dated to the Early Medieval period.
