Zusammenfassung: | The site at Cooksland 2 was excavated by Archaeological Consultancy Services Ltd (ACS) as part of the M3 Clonee–North of Kells Motorway Scheme on behalf of Meath County Council NRDO and the NRA. The excavation was carried out between 4 and 21 July 2006 under Ministerial Direction Number A008/005 issued by the DoEHLG in consultation with the NMI. A spread of burnt stone was all that survived of a burnt mound associated with a wood- lined trough with four associated stakeholes. This trough was dated to the early Bronze Age/middle Bronze Age. A number of modern, linear features, such as field drains and ditches, were also sampled along with three pits which may have been of no archaeological significance. Finds from this site included a retouched flake and a piece of flint debitage. |
