Copenhagen. 1919. Thor Bøgelund 1890-1959 Drawing Thor Bøgelund was trained at the Academy of Fine Arts (1910-13) as a figure painter, but it became the poster that was to become his main medium. As a young idealistic artist he belonged from 1910 to the circle of modernists in the association Young Art, a position that should soon be weakened in favor of a more commercial artist’s view. Bøgelund quickly realized the poster’s commercial advantages, and soon became one of the most sought-after poster and exhibition organizers at home. Abroad, he obtained public recognition with several honorary diplomas. The repertoire embraced widely, Bøgelund thus produced posters for political parties and events, newspapers, rides, product advertising, etc. Of film posters, however, he made only a few. In addition to the extensive poster production, Thor Bøgelund also engaged in the educational and organizational, learning at the Danish Technical School’s then artisan class, and as co-founder of and chairman of the Tegner Association. Under the influence of Ludwig Hohlwein’s tectonic style in particular, and Lucian Bernhard and Julius Klinger’s typography introduced Thor Bøgelund in the 1910s the German Plaster in Denmark with its advertising aesthetic, simple, colouring principles. His figurative expression and writing image preserved throughout his work a certain solidity, but from around the 20 's his style changed to the less doctrinal. At the same time, Cubism and international nature became déco, and later the 30 “s and 40” social realism and streamline now visible in his works. 1 af 24 miniatureplakater trykt 1929 i anledning af Dansk Arbejdes Udstilling i Haderslev Se også MKH 144x12 Prodansk afstemningsplakat, dansk tekst, Zone 1 og 2.
