Tranquebar faience was created by art painter Christian Joachim. It was with the blue paint on a weak blue-green base inspired by Chinese porcelain. The first test items for Tranquebar were available in 1914, but a frame was only put into production in 1918 - after the 1st World War. In the beginning only intended as a dining room, but soon more ornamental objects came into existence.
Joachim was employed at Aluminia 1901-33. From 1911 as artistic director, from 1922 also as head of Den kgl. Porcelain factory.
Iflg. L.B. Mikkelsen is second drawn by Joachim, iflg. Giving by Nils Thorsson, who in 1912 became a student at Aluminia under Joachim, and in 1933 became head of the factory.
