Zusammenfassung:Information: Stories of Catalonia is a documentary series on the history of everyday life with each episode focusing on a different subject. The main actors are not kings or politicians but ordinary people who once lived in Catalonia and who serve to illustrate what daily life was like years ago. Each episode covers three or four stories set in different times to help viewers understand the world in which our ancestors lived. The series presenter and researcher takes viewers on a trip back in time. The narrative and the dramatic reconstruction using actors border on fiction, but the stories themselves are true ones which have been rigorously documented. http://www.tv3.cat/historiesdecatalunya/home.htm Director: Toni Tortajada, Joan Gallifa Editor: Joe Peire, Pere Arcas, Joan Bastida First transmission: 21/04/2003 Last transmission: 10/03/2005 Number of episodes: 22 Length: 00.27.00 Throughout time people have always been concerned with the subject of health and fighting diseases. Good health has to do with more than just medical advances; it is about nutrition, hygiene and healthy habits. In the 14th century, the plague took a great toll on all of Europe, killing almost half of the population. In Lleida, Dr. Jaume d’Agramunt raced against the clock in search of a cure for the disease. For many centuries, women were the ones who treated the ill, with home remedies and natural treatments. But towards the beginning of the 15th century, when official academies began graduating doctors, they began to see women as tough competition. Tortosa, 1884. Dr. Ferran focused his research on a vaccination against cholera.
