The program guides us through the history of celebrating the 1848-49 Revolution and War of Independence. Commemorations of 1848 were not exactly prohibited after The Compromise but they were not encouraged either. In 1898 the first mention is made that the anniversary be turned into a national holiday; but is was not to be until 1927. The 100 year anniversary was made more memorable with the presence of the high ranking Russian military officer Voroshilov. March 15 was declared a working day from 1951 again and after 1956 central commemorations were not exactly enforced. Later in the program we learn about the life and the grave of Lajos Battyány, the first prime minister and finally about the military officers executed for their role in the War of Independence, and the 13 martyrs of Arad.
The program focuses on the commemoration of the 1848-49 Revolution and War of Independence.
