Zusammenfassung: | October 1972. This bronze memorial bust of the Earl of Oxford and Asquith. Herbert Henry Asquith occupies a grey and red marble niche in the vestibule of the Town Hall. it was presented to the people of Morley by Sir William Middlebrook on 29th October, 1928. The sculpture was the work of Henry Charles Fehr. F.R.B.S. Henry Herbert Asquith was born in Morley at Croft House in church Street. He held important posts in Government as Home Secretary and Chancellor of the Exchequer before succeeding as Liberal Prime Minister in 1908 remaining in power until 1916.
