Zusammenfassung: | In February and March 2018, KDK Archaeology Ltd undertook a programme of strip, map and sample excavation of Land at Green End Farm, Arlesey, Bedfordshire. The project was required under the terms of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and as a condition of planning permission. The investigations revealed a number of ditches, pits and gullies across the site, with artefactual evidence of land use beginning in the early medieval period. These features seem to reflect an agricultural use for the site, with a predominance of drainage ditches, sumps and land drains, along with two larger site boundaries. Early maps corroborate this interpretation, showing the site on the periphery of settlement. |
