Zusammenfassung: | A desk-top assessment of a site which lay partly within an Archaeological Priority Zone was undertaken. Palaeolithic finds, a neolithic axe, a bronze age arrowhead and a mosaic with Roman artefacts had been found in the vicinity. The route of a Roman road passed nearby. Aldersbrook House, part of a late medieval and post-medieval manor, lay on the site itself; excavations in 1972-3 had revealed evidence of a terrace, garden walls and ponds. Parts of the manor were likely to have been truncated by modern burials. [AIP] |
