Zusammenfassung: | LGBTQ+ supportive practices in college and university housing must extend beyond cursory policies and practice. Applying a critical framework, The Traditionally Heterogendered Institution (THI), this study explores the experiences of 16 LGBTQ+ students navigating college and university housing. Findings illustrate how colleges and universities continue to reify heterogendered norms in housing practices, therefore "othering" them against a cisgender and heterosexual norm. This study encourages college and university housing professionals to center LGBTQ+ students in their practices and poses critical questions to consider how practitioners can work to dismantle the conditions of the THI. |
