Quality assurance for university teaching

This book, written from a British perspective, presents 17 papers on quality assurance in teaching at the university level. The first eight papers address issues of assuring quality and include: (1) "Quality Assurance for University Teaching; Issues and Approaches" (Roger Ellis); (2) "A British Standard for University Teaching?" The next five papers are concerned with identifying quality; they include: (9) "Teaching Styles of Award-Winning Professors" (Jerry M. Lewis); (10) "The First Distinguished Teaching Award in the United Kingdom" (Elaine Thomas); (11) "Expert Teachers' Perceptions of University Teaching: The Identification of Teaching Skills" (Christine Saunders and Eric Saunders); (12) "Teaching Standards from Quality Circles" (Jennifer Boore); and (13) "Effective Teaching" (George Brown). The final four papers are concerned with developing quality, and include: (14) "Appraisal Schemes and Their Contribution to Quality in Teaching" (Saranne Magennis); (15) "Staff Development and Quality Assurance" (Sandra Griffiths); (16) "Teacher Training for University Teachers?"
