Zusammenfassung: | This checklist is intended to help communities evaluate their provision of Personal Assistance Services (PAS) for people with significant disabilities. Although PAS services are the key component of individualized supports for such persons, they should be considered in conjunction with other services. Essential qualities of effective PAS are: (1) availability to all on the basis of functional need; (2) comprehensiveness so that institutional living can be avoided; and (3) controllability by the people who use them. The 33-item checklist is organized according to aspects of these three qualities. For each criterion, the checklist requires evaluation of policy, program provision, and current reality. (DB) |
