Chapter 1 defines the concepts of international development and global interaction, considers global images, describes the relationship between development and education, and explains the role of international development educators. Chapter 2 provides a literature review of various international development perspectives, while chapter 3 offers instructional suggestions for teaching about: (1) population; (2) food and hunger; (3) human rights and social justice; (4) conflict resolution; and (5) global interdependence and development processes. Chapter 4 provides information on specific international development organizations, and chapter 5 explains how to obtain financial support for international development education-related projects.
