Zusammenfassung: | This report is the fifth biennial survey of statistical information on 116 Pacific Northwest academic libraries. After an introduction which explains the data collection process and identifies some possible trends in the data, data tables present information for each of the institutions surveyed according to institutional category: four-year colleges and universities, two-year colleges, and law libraries and miscellaneous. Selected variables are then analyzed under four major headings: (1) collections--total volumes held, annual growth rate, current serials holdings, volumes held per FTE (full time equivalent) student, and catalog records in machine-readable form; (2) personnel--beginning professional salaries, salary of director, professionals as a percentage of staff, and percentage of female/male directors; (3) expenditures--library materials as a percentage of the library budget, serials expenditure as a percentage of the materials budget, total budget per FTE student, and materials budget per FTE student; and (4) use--reference transactions per week, database transactions, attendance count per typical week, and interlibrary lending and borrowing. A miscellaneous table provides data on the wages of student assistants. Copies of the survey instrument and instructions are included, and an index to the responding libraries is provided. (EW) |
