Tree-Fruit Production. An Instructional Unit for Teachers of Adult Vocational Education in Agriculture

Designed as a guide for teachers in planning and conducting young and adult farmer classes, the unit covers the basic areas of tree-fruit production. The format of the 10-lesson unit allows for the utilization of the problem-solving and discussion methods of teaching. The major objective of the unit is to develop the ability to effectively establish and manage a tree-fruit production enterprise. Topics of study include: orchard site selection, establishing and propagating fruit trees, pruning, soil management, thinning trees, insect and disease control, harvesting and marketing, and managing home fruit production.
