Zusammenfassung:Since the passage of the Manpower Development and Training Act of 1962 (MDTA), the Department of Labor has funded over $30 million worth of experimental and demonstration (E and D) projects in an effort to discover some new directions for dealing with the unemployment problems of disadvantaged youth. To evaluate the effectiveness of these and similar projects and to chart a course to follow with future programs, this report reviews the nature of these projects in terms of assessment, counseling, and supportive services to disadvantaged youths. Specifically, the report seeks to identify the new knowledge and techniques which are innovations in working with disadvantaged youth and to determine the implications for future policies, programs, and strategies. The major sections of the report are: (1) Introduction, (2) Assessment, (3) Counseling, (4) Supportive Services, (5) Summary of Recommendations for Programs, Plans, and Policies, and (6) Appendix.
