Zusammenfassung: | This report describes the planning, writing, evaluation, and results and recommendations of the Secondary School Mathematics Curriculum Improvement Study. This study was begun "to formulate and test a unified secondary school mathematics program (7-12) that will take capable students well into current collegiate mathematics" and to "determine the education required by teachers who will implement such a program." Also included in the report is a scheme for a taxonomy of objectives and course contents for each of the three courses developed (grades 7-8-9). Recommendations are that the program be reexamined for possible adoption as a curriculum for all junior high school students, that the preservice mathematics education of prospective junior high school teachers be reexamined, and that the unified approach developed for junior high school be extended throughout the senior high school.
