Zusammenfassung:A PROJECT TO IMPROVE THE TEACHING OF MALADJUSTED CHILDREN (GRADES 2 TO 12) IN SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS THROUGH THE USE OF ADDITIONAL STAFF AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICE WAS EVALUATED. DATA WERE GATHERED PRIMARILY BY OBSERVATIONS, INTERVIEWS, AND QUESTIONNAIRES. GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS WERE MADE--(1) IT WOULD BE PREFERABLE TO HAVE FEWER BUT BETTER PROGRAMS, (2) CURRICULUM AND SPECIAL EDUCATION EXPERTS SHOULD DEVELOP AN APPROPRIATE PROGRAM FOR THESE CHILDREN, AND INNOVATIONS SHOULD BE BASED ON A STUDY OF THE LITERATURE ON SPECIAL EDUCATION, (THE BOARD OF EDUCATION IS NOW PREPARING SUCH A GUIDE), AND (3) WAYS SHOULD BE FOUND TO RECRUIT MORE TEACHERS. INCENTIVES MIGHT INCLUDE TUITION-FREE COURSES AND INCREMENTS IN CONJUNCTION WITH SPECIAL LICENSING. THE UNIQUE FEATURES OF THE PROGRAM WERE DESCRIBED, AND THE PRINCIPAL AND TEACHERS' QUESTIONNAIRES, STUDENTS' SCHOOL ATTITUDE SCALE, AS WELL AS OTHER RELEVANT DATA WERE APPENDED. (NH)
