Zusammenfassung:	An emulsifier composition containing 1,4-bis(bromoacetoxy)-2-butene (BBAB) is disclosed which has the ability to disperse and/or dissolve uniformly in aqueous systems thereby effectively controlling the growth of microorganisms. The composition contains BBAB and a nonionic emulsifier. A method for inhibiting the growth of microorganisms with this composition in an amount effective to control the growth of microorganisms is also disclosed.
