Zusammenfassung: | A weed or vegetation removing device somewhat resembling a walking stick is provided and enables weeds to be removed manually from a standing position without having to be handled. It includes a fork that has at least two mutually inclined co-acting tines, an operating handle, a set of lazy tongs and a rigid spacing member. The latter extends between the handle and the set of lazy tongs, the latter including a first pair of mutually pivoted links, the lower one of which has mounted thereon at least one of the tines, and a second pair of mutually pivoted links, the lower one of which has mounted thereon at least one of the other of the tines. An actuating member associated with the handle end of the rigid spacing member is adapted to actuate remote release means which temporarily disengage locking means disposed on the lower link. The tines are adapted, in response to a reactive ground-imparted force to be locked in substantially parallel alignment until released in response to actuation of the actuating member, thus causing a weed to be seized and retained between the tines during the resulting mutual inclination of the tines as the tool is lifted from ground level by the handle. |
