Zusammenfassung: | This invention belongs to the field of immunology and provides a method for designing and constructing bispecific antibodies whose binding profiles are more desirable than those of the monospecific antibodies from which they were derived. The invention is exemplified in part by a bispecific antibody type that preferentially binds to some carcinomas and, at the same time, achieves a much decreased cross-reactivity with critical normal tissue as compared to the parent antibodies. The invention is not limited to cancer therapy, and its scope envisions the ability to selectively direct a wide variety of agents to particular sites in the body for an assortment of purposes while reducing the level of cross-reactivity to undesired locations. |
