USE OF THIO-COMPOUNDS FOR PREVENTING LOSS OF HAIR CAUSED BY CYTOSTATIC SUBSTANCES

The hair loss caused by cytostatics can be prevented by administration of compounds of the general formula Alk1-S-Alk2 in which Alk1 is a phenyl radical or an optionally guanidino-, hydroxyl-, mercapto-, sulpho-, amino-, carboxyl-, phenylamino- or cyclohexylamino-substituted C1-C6-alkyl radical, and Alk2 is hydrogen or S-Alk1, or in which both radicals Alk1 and Alk2 together with the sulphur atom form a saturated 5-membered ring of CH2 members, it also being possible for one ring member to be an NH group or a CO group, or in which Alk1 is hydrogen or an optionally amino-substituted C1-C8-alkyl radical, and Alk2 is the group -SO3H or the group C(Y)-NR8R9 in which Y is the group =R10 or a sulphur atom, and the radicals R8, R9 and R10 are hydrogen or C1-C6-alkyl radicals, or by the following compounds: 2-mercaptoethylphosphoric acid, amidothiophosphoric acid, S-(2-aminoethyl)thiophosphoric acid, S-2-(3-aminopropylamino)- ethylthiophosphoric acid, guanylthiourea, phenylthiourea, alpha -lipoic acid, alpha -lipoamide, or the salts thereof.
