Zusammenfassung:	Nasal preparations for prophylaxis against viral infections of the respiratory tract contain as active ingredient one or more nitrogen-contg. fungal polysaccharides. Nasal preparations with a vaccine effect for prophylaxis against viral infections of the respiratory tract contain, per 0.5 ml of aq. medium, 2.5-10 mg of a fungal N-contg. polysaccharide in admixture with at least one strain of a respiratory tract virus in an amt. not exceeding that which is rendered non-infectious by the N-contg. polysaccharide at room to body temp., opt. together with usual additives.. The preparations are useful against viral infections of the respiratory tract, esp. influenza A and influenza B infections. Fungal N-contg. polysaccharides when administered intranasally afford protection lasting for several days against viral infections of the respiratory tract. Furthermore, when co-administered with viruses, the polysaccharides reduce the infectiousness of the viruses without impairing their ability to induce antibody formation.
