NEW PHARMACEUTICAL PREPARATIONS

The compositions are intended for the topical treatment of infections caused by herpes viruses, especially those caused by herpes virus hominis, e.g. by herpes genitalis and herpes dermatitis. The compositions contain as antiviral agents a synergistic combination of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of an acidic sulphated polysaccharide or acidic sulphated polymer and zinc ions, and, where appropriate, an additional content of polyoxyethylene sorbitan monolaurate and/or monooleate in conventional pharmaceutical forms for topical use such as creams, ointments, tinctures, aqueous solutions and, especially, gels.
