Zusammenfassung: | A compacted fluoride flux made by treating an aq. soln. of fluosilicic acid pref. 20-30 wt. % concn., with an alkaline earth carbonate suspension in water, followed by sepn. of the fluoride-silica ppte., drying and granulation. At a convenient stage of the process, a material low in silica is opt. added so that the silica content of the end prod. is 3-15, pref. 5-10 wt.% SiO2. The carbonates are pref. calcium- or magnesium- carbonate, in an excess of pref. 1-5% in relation to the fluosilicic acid, and in an aq. suspension with a solid:water ratio of 1:1-4. The low-silica material is pref. natural fluorspar, waste prods. contg. fluoride, surplus alkaline-earth carbonates, bauxite and/or clay. For granulation, lignine sulphonate, molasses and/or bentonite may be used. The briquettes made from the material were heated for 1 hour at 250 degrees C, after which they showed good strength and were water- and frost-resistant. |
