PHENYLUREA DERIVATIVES AND THEIR PREPARATION AND USE AS HERBICIDES

1345300 Phenyl urea derivatives FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 7 April 1972 [10 April 1971] 16201/72 Heading C2C [Also in Division A5] The invention comprises compounds of the formula wherein one of X 1 and X 2 represents the difluorochloromethoxy group -OCF 2 Cl and the other represents a hydrogen atom, R 1 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, preferably a methyl group and R 2 represents an alkyl radical having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an alkenyl or alkinyl radical having from 2 to 4 carbon atoms or a methoxy group. Such compounds are prepared by reacting an appropriately substituted phenyl isocyanate or carbanilic acid chloride with an appropriate primary or secondary amine or appropriately substituted hydroxylamine and alkylating the product if required or by reacting an appropriately substituted aniline with an appropriate isocyanate, carbamic acid chloride or carbamic acid phenyl ester. Examples are furnished. The products are employed as active ingredients in herbicidal compositions and may be employed in combination with known herbicides (see Division A5).
