The outer layer 19 can be of wound strip metal, or may comprise a support ring. The inner layer 18 is of the same thickness as a lower bowl part 17. An outer thermal lining 35 and biological shield 6 are included. Excess pressure exceeding 6 atmospheres above the external pressure can be vented from the region inside the shield 6 by passing along an annular flow passage 23 surrounding coolant ducting 24, to displace insulant 36 and a bellows 37.
