Zusammenfassung:What is provided is a device for conducting a chemical reaction in a process fluid in a production facility that has at least one grounding connection connected to ground. The device comprises a reactor having one or more reaction tubes that are guided into the reactor and out of the reactor via at least one infeed section and at least one discharge section, respectively, and that have a number of tube sections that are able to be heated electrically and that are connected to one another in a current output area by an electrically conductive star bridge, and at least one current source that is designed to provide a multiphase AC current having N phases on N phase lines at a predetermined voltage, wherein N is an integer greater than or equal to 2 and wherein it is the case, for any two phases, that a phase shift between the two phases is 2#·k/N, wherein k is in each case an integer in the range from 1 to N-1. Provision is made, for each of the at least one current sources, for a number N of current connections that are each connected, in a current infeed area, to at least one of the pipe sections, wherein each of the current connections is connected to one of the phase lines of the current source, wherein a star point is formed in the at least one current source, the phase lines of the current source being connected to said star point, wherein the star point is not connected to a grounding connection.
