Zusammenfassung:The present invention relates to a reactor (100, 200) for carrying out a chemical reaction, which reactor comprises a reactor vessel (10) and one or more reaction tubes (20), current supply elements (41) for electrical heating of the reaction tube(s) (20) being guided into the reactor vessel (10). According to the invention the current supply elements (41) each have a rod-shaped portion (43), each of which runs through a wall (14) of the reactor vessel (10) at a wall passage (15); a connecting chamber (60) into which the rod-shaped portions (43) protrude is arranged outside the reactor vessel (10) and adjoining the wall (14) of the reactor vessel (10) through which the rod-shaped portions (43) run at the wall passages (15) of said wall; cooling panels (61) through which a cooling fluid can flow are provided in the connecting chamber (60), which panels are arranged between at least two rod-shaped portions (43) or between at least two groups of the rod-shaped portions which protrude into the connecting chamber.
