Zusammenfassung:The preheating of a vat (1) provided with anodes (10) and cathodes (5) for the production of aluminium by electrolysis incorporates a first stage, after feeding current to the vat, during which a layer of granulated conducting material is deposed then squashed between the anodes and cathodes. The granulated conducting material is graphite based and the layer does not extend, after squashing, over a part of the lower surface (14) of each anode and takes the form of contacts (13). The layer of granulated conducting material covers between 5 and 40% of the lower surface of each anode and the number of contacts associated with each anode is between 3 and 20.
