The therapeutic, title compound (I) is prepared by reacting thiamphenicol glycinate hydrochloride with dicyclohexylamine in a solvent, e.g. dimethylformamide, removing precipitated dicyclohexylammonium chloride from the reaction system, adding acetylcysteine to the residual solution and precipitating I, e.g. by adding chloroform or diethyl ether.
