Zusammenfassung:	1391720 Treatment of asphatene containing oils UNIVERSAL OIL PRODUCTS CO 17 Oct 1972 [18 Oct 1971 (2)] 47780/72 Heading C5E An asphatene-containing hydrocarbonaceous charge stock is converted by (a) introducing into a conversion zone together with H 2 a recycle stream obtained later in the process and comprising a solvent lean mixture of non-stoichiometric vanadium sulphide and asphatenes withdrawn from a solvent extraction zone, (b) reacting the stream with the hydrogen under conditions selected to convert asphatenes into lower boiling hydrocarbons, (c) separating a hydrogen containing stream from the conversion zone effluent, (d) introducing the remaining normally liquid portion of the effluent including the vanadium sulphide into a solvent extraction zone to deasphalt the portion and produce a solventrich normally liquid phase which is withdrawn and a solvent lean stream which forms the above mentioned recycle stream and (e) introducing the starting material into the circulation system by comingling it with (1) the recycle stream of step (a) or (2) the normally liquid portion of the conversion zone effluent. The solvent is preferably a low boiling or naptha function hydrocarbon.
