PROCESS FOR PREPARING NOVEL PYRIMIDINE DERIVATIVES

1384150 Pyrimidine derivatives LABAZ 12 July 1973 [21 July 1972] 34378/72 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of the formula wherein R represents a di- or tri-propylacetyl-, 2 - ethyl - 2 - butyl - acetyl or 2 - methyl - 2- pentyl-acetyl group and R 1 represents H or is selected from the same groups as R; and mono- and di-acid addition salts thereof. They may be obtained by heating a compound of the formula with the appropriate quantity of a compound of the formula wherein R 2 is 2-, 3- or 4-heptyl or 4-(4-propyl)- heptyl and R 3 is Cl or to form the free base of the required compound, which if required may be reacted with a stoichiometric quantity of an organic or inorganic acid to form the corresponding mono- or di-acid addition salts thereof. Examples are given for the production of these compounds. The above compounds possess antiprotozoan activity as well as toxoplasmicidal and antiallergenic properties. They may be administered orally or rectally in the form of coated or uncoated tablets, powders, capsules or suppositories.
