Zusammenfassung:The present invention pertains to the field of electro-technology and to automation systems and may be used as a controller for tunable displacements. In one embodiment, this magneto-mechanical converter comprises the following members: a magnetic system with a main controllable source of magnetic field as well as an additional controllable source of magnetic-field (2, 3); a core (4) made of a magnetostrictive material; and an execution member (5) kinetically connected to the core (4). The main and additional controllable sources (2, 3) are located so as to generate in the region of the core (4) a plurality of magnetic fields having intensity vectors which are not parallel relative to each other. Said controllable sources (2, 3) are connected through a switch to a power supply, and the material of the core (4) has residual magnetostrictive properties. The method for controlling the magneto-mechanical converter comprises changing the co-ordinates of the centre of inertia of the executive member (5) by generating a main magnetic field in the region of the core (4) and by varying at least once the intensity value of said magnetic field. This value is modified within an interval ranging from zero to an intensity value at which the magnetostriction of the technically saturated material of the core (4) occurs, the given position of the centre of inertia of the executive member (5) being maintained for a certain time period. The main magnetic field is generated in the form of pulses non-overlapping in time of a plurality of non-parallel magnetic fields. When the intensity value of the main magnetic field in the region of the core (4) is equal to zero, the given co-ordinates of the centre of inertia of the executive member (5) are maintained for a period of time within the interval of the above-mentioned pulses of the magnetic fields, and within the limits of the maximum residual change of the core (4) linear dimension.
