INJECTION MOLDING PROCESS

A process for making injection molded articles particularly ones having swirl patterns of polyamide in an ionomer (marble effect) employing a reciprocating screw injection molding machine is provided. The process involves making a nylon/colorant master batch and using a reciprocating screw injection machine to mold the nylon/colorant master batch and an ionomer under conditions that maintain the nylon/colorant master batch in a state wherein it will flow but will have a viscosity greater than the ionomer so that it will not disperse well in the ionomer at the temperature of injection molding. Cette invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'articles moulés par injection, notamment d'articles qui possèdent des motifs tourbillonnaires de polyamide dans un ionomère (effet marbré), lequel procédé fait appel à une machine de moulage par injection qui comporte une vis-piston. Ce procédé consiste à préparer un mélange maître nylon/colorant, puis à utiliser une machine de moulage par injection et à vis-piston afin de mouler le mélange maître et l'ionomère. Ce moulage s'effectue dans des conditions qui permettent de maintenir le mélange maître nylon/colorant à l'état fluide avec une viscosité toutefois supérieure à celle de l'ionomère, ceci de manière à entraver la dispersion dudit mélange maître dans l'ionomère à la température de moulage par injection.
