L'invention concerne des anticorps spécifiques au virus de l'herpes des équidés de type 1 (EHV-1) et l'utilisation de tels anticorps dans le diagnostic de l'infection d'un cheval par l'EHV-1. De tels anticorps sont développés contre un épitope d'une nucleocapside de EHV-1, et ils peuvent distinguer entre l'EHV-1 et le virus de l'herpes des équidés très voisin de type 4 (EHV-4).
