Procédé de préparation de 1,3-diméthyl-5-hydroxy-oxindole de la formule (II), consistant en la réaction de 4-(N-méthylamino)phénole avec du chlorure de 2-halogène-propionyle, et en la cyclisation du composé obtenu en présence d'acides de Lewis, et sa conversion en éséréthol.
