Zusammenfassung:	A sulfur trioxide-containing fluid, e.g., sulfur trioxide gas, is contacted with the surfaces of equipment in contact with crude oil or natural gas to retard the deposition of paraffins from the crude oil or natural gas onto the surfaces and/or to react with paraffins already deposited on the surfaces to produce a water-dispersible material which is subsequently removed with an aqueous liquid. Un fluide contenant du trioxyde de soufre, par exemple sous forme gazeuse, est mis en contact avec les surfaces de l'équipement exposées au brut ou au gaz naturel pour retarder le dépôt des paraffines provenant du brut ou du gaz naturel sur les surfaces et/ou pour réagir avec les paraffines déjà déposées sur les surfaces, afin de produire un matériau pouvant se disperser dans l'eau et qui est éliminé ensuite à l'aide d'un liquide aqueux.
