AZO-BIS-SALICYLIC ACID AND SALT THEREOF, PHARMACEUTICAL FORMULATIONS AND USES OF SAID ACID AND SALT, AND PRODUCTION OF THE ACID

Compounds having a pharmaceutically acceptable degree of purity, and with formulations of these compounds for the treatment of inflammatory disorders in the intestine (IBD), especially ulcerative colitis. These compounds are 4,5'-azo-bis-salicylic acid (I) and its pharmaceutically acceptable salts, especially the disodium salt. The invention is also concerned with a method for treating inflammatory conditions in the intestine, especially ulcerative colitis. Finally the invention also comprises a method of producing 4,5'-azo-bis-salicylic acid with a pharmaceutically acceptable degree of purity. Composés possédant un degré de pureté pharmaceutiquement acceptable et compositions à base de ces composés pour le traitement d'affections inflammatoires de l'intestin (IBB), en particulier la colite ulcéreuse. Ces composés sont l'acide 4,5'-azo-bis-salicylique (I) et ses sels pharmaceutiquement acceptables, en particulier le sel disodique. La présente invention a également trait à un procédé de traitement de conditions inflammatoires de l'intestin, en particulier la colite ulcéreuse. La présente invention comporte enfin un procédé de production de l'acide 4,5'-azo-bis-salicylique avec un degré de pureté pharmaceutiquement acceptable.
