The electronic device comprises a display, a communication interface, a memory for storing one or more instructions, and one or more processors connected to the display, the communication interface and the memory so as to control the electronic device. The one or more processors execute the one or more instructions so as to: identify information about content displayed on the display when a signal corresponding to a touch input of a user is received from an external input device through the communication interface; perform a first control operation on the basis of a touch input of the user if the content information is first content information; and, on the basis of the touch input of the user, perform a second control operation differing from the first control operation if the content information is second content information differing from the first content information.
