La présente invention concerne des larves de mouche soldat noire ayant un poids élevé, des procédés de production de celles-ci et l'utilisation des larves de poids élevé dans diverses applications y compris en tant qu'aliment ou aliment pour animaux, en tant que source pour des ingrédients de qualité alimentaire comprenant des protéines, de la chitine et de la graisse, et pour la conversion de déchets en biomasse.
