Zusammenfassung:A refrigerator and a control method thereof are disclosed. The refrigerator according to the present disclosure may comprise: a compressor which compresses a refrigerant; a motor which transmits power to the compressor; a condenser which condenses the refrigerant compressed by the compressor; a valve which reduces the pressure of the refrigerant condensed by the condenser; an evaporator which evaporates the refrigerant having the pressure reduced by the valve; a storage compartment which is controlled to a predetermined temperature through a heat exchange process with the evaporator; a memory which can store at least one instruction; and one or more processors which can execute the at least one instruction, wherein, if temperature information in the storage compartment is acquired, the one or more processors: on the basis of the temperature information and a first time point when the temperature information is acquired, identify a rate of temperature change in the storage compartment, corresponding to a first time period including the first time point; input information on the identified rate of temperature change into a temperature prediction model to acquire information on a predicted temperature in the storage compartment after the first time period; on the basis of the acquired information on the predicted temperature, identify whether a temperature change in the storage compartment after the first time period is equal to or greater than a predetermined value; and if the temperature change in the storage compartment after the first time period is identified as being equal to or greater than the predetermined value, control the motor to drive the compressor at a predetermined RPM.
