Zusammenfassung:A wire electrode. The wire electrode comprises: a core material (1); an intermediate layer (2) which is located outside the core material (1); and a surface layer (3) which is located outside the intermediate layer (2), wherein the intermediate layer (2) is made of a copper-zinc alloy and the interior of the core material has an irregular β-phase and/or β'-phase copper-zinc alloy. A preparation method for the wire electrode comprises performing electroplating, heat treatment and drawing processes, so as to form a β-phase copper-zinc alloy within a core material inside the wire electrode; and by using the characteristics of the β-phase copper-zinc alloy and a β'-phase copper-zinc alloy, the conductivity of the core material can be improved, the transmission of discharge energy is improved, and a wire cutting speed is increased.
