A communication method, a communication apparatus, and a communication system. The communication method comprises: a second donor node sends a first message, and correspondingly, a first donor node receives the first message, the first message comprising a list of target donor nodes to which a relay node is to be switched, the first donor node being in an F1 connection with the relay node, and the second donor node being in a radio resource control (RRC) connection with the relay node; the first donor node determines a target donor node from the list of target donor nodes and a migration mode; and the first donor node sends a second message, and correspondingly, the second donor node receives the second message, the second message comprising first indication information, and the first indication information being used for indicating the target donor node and the migration mode. By using embodiments of the present application, an IAB node can be more reasonably switched between different donor node topologies.
