DATA COMPRESSION METHOD, APPARATUS, COMPUTING DEVICE, AND STORAGE SYSTEM

Provided are a data compression method, an apparatus, a computing device, and a storage system, which relate to the field of data compression. The data compression method comprises: when a computing device compresses a file to be compressed, the computing device determining a compression algorithm for said file according to the content characteristic of the said file; and, according to the compression algorithm, compressing said file to obtain compressed data, and storing the compressed data. Therefore, compared with computing devices use one compression algorithm to compress files having different content characteristics, the computing device in the data compression method provided by the present application uses the compression algorithm selected according to the content characteristic of the file to be compressed. The file to be compressed is compressed by using the compression algorithm matched with the content characteristic of the file to be compressed, such that the data compression rate can be effecti
