In the method, a differential file comprises at least one group of compressed data blocks, and compressed data blocks in each group before compressed are divided on the basis of a preset block size. When performing restoration for the differential file, an electronic device first determines the number k of parallel restoration threads according to a block size and the size of a RAM space, and then performs restoration processing on the differential file in parallel by using the k restoration threads, wherein each restoration thread performs restoration processing on the at least one group of compressed data blocks by using one group of RAM spaces corresponding to the restoration thread.
