Un signal haptique est transcodé selon une vitesse d'échantillonnage du domaine spatial au domaine temporel à coder dans un format de fichier d'échange haptique. Les données requises pour effectuer le transcodage inverse pour décoder et restituer le signal sont stockées dans le fichier d'échange haptique.
