Provided in the embodiments of the present application are a positioning method and a positioning apparatus, which can improve positioning efficiency. The method comprises: a first device sending SCI to a second device, the SCI comprising time-frequency resource information of a reference signal, the reference signal being used for positioning, and correspondingly, the second device receiving the SCI; the first device sending the reference signal to the second device, correspondingly, the second device receiving the reference signal and sending a response message to the first device; and the first device receiving the response message sent by the second device, the response message comprising position information which is determined by the second device on the basis of the reference signal.
